Saturday
Pusan is the second biggest city of South Korea. We've stayed there from Saturday - Wednesday. Unfortunately we didn't catch the best weather. When we arrived in Pusan at 5 pm we took a bus to our hostel which was located in the famous Haeundae area. The bus was packed with people so we had to stand for the whole one hour ride. It was more than welcomed that an old Korean man, who was sitting, took my heavy hand bag and put it on his knees. At first it felt a little awkward but soon we've noticed that this is how the Koreans do it. At this point I should mention that the people in Pusan were even more very friendly than the Seoul people. They all tried to make an effort to speak some English words, they smile a lot and seem a little happier than the Seoul population. After our arrival at the hostel and a quick shower we went out to meet my dear Della, who is badly missed in Seoul. We ate a super delicious seafood soup and had some beers at a bar.
Sunday
Due to heavy rain on Sunday and Monday we spent a lot of our time inside. Thanks god Pusan is the location of the largest department store in the world, Shinsaegae departement store. I'm still not sure it is the biggest in the world, at least they say so. This is where we spent most of our Sunday. We didn't shop anything really, we just looked around and were amazed by the size of this whole thing. On Sunday evening Della has invited us for dinner at her appartment. She cooked Jeon for us, my favourite food of hers, that she already made many times in England for me. It's a Korean style pancake with meat and vegetables. I truly felt blessed to spend some time with her perfect little family.
Monday
On Monday we still had to fight with the bad weather so we started our day in some underground shopping centre, which was nice to finally look into all the Korean cosmetic and clothing stores. The variety is mind blowing, sometimes I'm totally lost in this paradise! After that we went to eat the famous Pusan pork and rice soup for lunch. Even though I'm always a bit critical towards pork, it was super delicous. I love Korean food way too much. After that we went to the district of Gamcheon culture village. It is an old cultural village on the hills of Pusan with lots of coloured houses and a great view to the bay. After that we visited Jagalchi fish market quickly and enjoyed the famous Hoddoek nearby. It's a kind of pancake fried in Margarine and filled with seeds. We've had them in Seoul before, but the Pusan version was a lot better.
Tuesday
Tuesday, our last and by far the most sunny day in Pusan, was all about enjoying the sun and the beach. We were walking around famous Haeundae beach, The Bay and my favourite part of the city "Dalmaji". Dalmaji felt incredibly quiet and stylish. It was full of fancy restaurants and cafés with a great view over the sea. I've never been to Beverly Hills in the US but that's how imagine it to be. We landed up in a place called "Bake House" that Della suggested. We enjoyed European style croissants, fresh juice, coffee and an amazing view over the sea.
After these amazing four days in Pusan I love South Korea even more, we could have stayed there a lot longer with the nice weather coming up.
